November 2008 : project kicks off in Galway, Ireland.  

January 2009: Standard Operating Procedure for isolation, cultivation and storage of mesenchymal stem cells is agreed and documented.  

February 2009: Project website officially launched (actually online since November 2008). New areas with images and videos added. Visit and .

March 2009: PurStem Lecture Series agreed. First lecture to take place in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, on 14th May.

May 2009: Project Meeting in Prague and Hradece Kralove goes very well. The first two lectures in the PurStem Lecture series are delivered - "STEM CELLS IN 2009 - LESS MYSTERY, MORE HOPES (Prof Mokry, CUNI) and "STEM CELL THERAPY: THE STEM CELL HOST INTERACTION IN TISSUE REPAIR" (Prof Barry, NUI Galway).

May 2009 : The flyer published by CUNI about the harvesting of MSCs from dental pulp can be viewed here.

June 2009: PurStem was selected by the Irish FP7 support agency, fp7ireland.com, as a case study demonstrating Irish success in the Framework. A brief presentation by Ciaran Clissmann of project partner Pintail Ltd was webcast to an audience of several hundred, in addition to an audience of over 200 at the event in Dublin. July 2009: University of Leeds hosts Schools outreach event. Click here for details. 

July 2009: CUNI hosts researcher Martina Harte from NUI Galway, to deliver knowledge transfer in karyotyping.

July 2009: New Student Zone and Beginners Guide materials now availble in Czech and Italian.  New Student Zone "look".

September 2009: New scientific material added to the website, aimed at stem cell researchers and the interested lay person. Each work-package is described in some detail.

September 2009: PurStem coordinators NUI Galway gave a presentation on "Ideas for successful dissemination activities" at the "Dissemination and Ethics Workshop" run by FP7 Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the Health Research Board in Dublin on 07 Sept. Agenda (doc file) is available here.

September 2009: PurStem partner CUNI presented a poster at the World Stem Cell Summit in Baltimore, USA. The project was credited on the poster, a great deal of interest was shown in the project  and all PurStem brochures were distributed. November 2009 - A presentation was given at the Academic unit of Musculoskeletal disease, Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine by Sally Boxall on 16th November 2009 entitled "Utilisation of the mesenchymal stem cell receptome for rational development of uniform, serum-free culture conditions and tools for cell characterisation"

A presentation was given at the University of Sheffield by Dennis McGonagle on 18th November 2009 entitled ‘MSCs in vivo’

 

January 2010 - PurStem presented at 4th Annual Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine World Congress, South San Francisco, USA. .

July 2010: PurStem's scientific work on telomere shortening was presented by Prof Mokry of CUNI at the MORPHOLOGY 2010 Conference in Kosice, Slovakia. Read the abstract here
